Practice this Thursday (tomorrow)

We finally got pool time tomorrow night at Paul Nelson from 6:40 to 9 pm.

I understand it is finals week (I have finals myself). However, please try to manage your time so you can make it. We should have much of the pool to ourselves tomorrow night and we will be able to get a lot accomplished. Bring your journals. Please pass the word on. I would like to see some new faces out there.

See you tomorrow night. Expect to work on counters and scrimmage.

Friday practice.

We will practice tomorrow from 3-5 pm at Hancock. We will be sharing the pool with St. Joe's Girls so we will work with what we've got and possibly combine with them. Reminders: PLAYERS NEED TO GET THEIR OWN Emails. Make sure you are logging your pushups/situps in your journals. Hasta Manana!

Emails etc

Thanks to everyone who made it to the film night. For those who weren't there, a reminder for those who were:

All players need to email coach Tucker from their own personal email address.
Everyone needs to get a journal. (a cheap spiral notebook will work fine).
The first journal assignment is to log 100 situps and 100 pushups mon-fri by getting a parent or PE coach initial for everyday showing Coach Tucker you did it. This will become much easier over time. Pushups help build your upper body strength and endurance which is vital to the wrestling aspect of the game. Check out this page about vital body parts of Polo by Men's National team player Adam Wright.

We will save leg work for the pool. However feel free to work your legs on your own!!

We are working hard to get pool time so check the blog and check your email frequently.

Also make sure your USA water polo membership is current and if you have not paid or don't have your paperwork in, try to have everything to Tucker's house by this Thursday.

No Pool Time=no practice

Paul Nelson Aquatic Center (PNAC) is closed this week. The swim club will be at Hancock during our practice time leaving us with no choice but to cancel practice. So instead, we will be meeting at Coach Tucker's house at 7pm Tuesday night (Dec 9) to watch film and run through a few things on dry land. Call him for directions.

First Practice

14 young men arrived at 7pm at the Allan Hancock College swimming pool. What a terrific showing for our first workout! We got right to work on offensive skills (specifically the rollout shot) and strategy as well as rigorous leg conditioning. Athletes can expect to have a significant part of each workout divoted to improving their abilities to tread water.

Our next practice is Thursday, December 4 same time same place. Thank you to Edla Enberg for taking care of all the paperwork and monies necessary to make this program happen. Please remember to bring your paperwork and check on Thursday if you have not turned them in already. All athletes must sign up for USA Water Polo. See onewaywaterpolo.com for more details.

Thursday's practice will be run by 14u Coach Dan Clarity and Head Coach Charley Bell. I will not be available due to my obligations at the Righetti Water Polo Banquet. Hope to see everybody next Tuesday.
